Communicating with family can be challenging, and relationships with mothers-in-law present their own unique challenges. There is often hostility between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law due to issues such as fear, jealousy, insecurity, and boundary issues. Sarah Anderson was grateful when her mother-in-law Andrea offered to help care for her newborn baby, Eden. Having an extra pair of hands was a relief. However, she began to notice strange changes in Eden when Andrea spent time with her. When she looked deeper into what was going on, she discovered something far more frightening and disturbing than she could have imagined.
Marcus and Sarah Anderson are a couple living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Their love story blossomed over five years and recently culminated in the purchase of their first home. Marcus makes his living as a realtor, and Sarah molds young minds as a fourth-grade teacher. Theirs is a story of love, growth, and new beginnings.
Not long ago, Sarah and her partner received the joyful news that they would soon become parents. After about a year of trying, this joyful news brought them great happiness. Although they knew that raising a child would not be easy, they could not imagine that the problems they would face would seriously threaten the unity of their family. They knew that the baby would be a big responsibility, but what they did not expect was the challenges that would come, which were powerful enough to destroy the harmony of their family.
Marcus and Sarah became parents on April 15th when their baby decided to come into the world a couple of weeks early. During the birth, several unexpected complications arose, which kept them in the hospital for a month. The whole family did not lose hope and prayed that everything would be okay with their baby.
Their decision to name their precious newborn baby girl Eden seemed perfect. They weren’t particularly religious people, but they decided that their little bundle of joy deserved a special name. The day finally came when they were allowed to bring their baby Eden home from the hospital, and their hearts were filled with relief and love. It seemed like the hardest part was over, because Eden was healthy and no longer in danger. But they didn’t know that their real journey as parents was just beginning.
The Andersons walked into their home, their minds racing with how to get baby Eden settled and everything she needed to have a great start in life. Unfortunately, Marcus had used up all of his paternity leave while Eden was in the hospital, leaving him with no choice but to throw himself back into work.
Sarah was a little nervous about taking on the responsibility of caring for Eden for the day. She had read every book on parenting, but her experience with a newborn had taught her that no amount of preparation could truly prepare you for this unpredictable journey. Luckily, she had relatives nearby to help. The only problem, however, was Sarah’s strained relationship with her in-laws. They had had disagreements in the past, which made things a little more difficult.
